From small applications as temperature and humidity sensors to intelligent energy management with smart grids, the Internet of Things is definitely an emerging technology who deserve our attention. But IoT focus is not only on creating applications that can be used only in certain industries, it is also on developing Smart Cities.
The final aim of a Smart City is to make a better use of public resources, increasing the quality of the services offered to the citizens, while reducing the operational costs of the public administration. Its area of application can be in environmental conditions, public transit, waste and many more.
Also, there is a Urban IoT Architecture behind all of this applications. Web service, link layers, devices. All of this combined create the structure needed for developing this technologies.
In his third seminary, João Gabriel Kroth is going to talk about Smart Cities, and what is behind of all marketing made about this innovation.
